Caroline Essame
Caroline Essame is an early years specialist with over 40 years’ experience in clinical practice, education and international development. Trained in occupational therapy, arts psychotherapy with a Master’s in Education she specializes in nature, creativity and play and their impact on development and wellbeing.
Founder of Developmental Play, a new model in child development, which she pioneered for the global south she now runs Developmental Play CPD training for teachers and teaching assistants at Health Sciences University in the UK to support the SEND and SEMH challenges in schools. Based in Dorset she works with children with complex needs and runs the CreateCATT global academy training and mentoring teachers and clinicians across South East Asia and the UK.
An award-winning adult educator and author of the Routledge book “Why Play Matters” (2023) and “Why Nature Matters” (2026) she runs her social enterprise between the UK and Asia.
